Mango Sticky Rice

Where it comes from

Khao niao mamuang is old love: sweetened sticky rice and prized mangoes appear in Siamese records from the late Ayutthaya period, and the pairing was cherished through the reign of King Chulalongkorn. The ritual is seasonal — when nam dok mai mangoes ripen each spring, the whole country eats it at once: warm rice, cool fruit, salted coconut cream tying them together. We serve it year-round.
